Shape, Define, and Tighten

BodyTite at James Rough, MD

Even when you're taking care of yourself, certain areas just don't respond. You’ve put in the work, but loose skin and small pockets of fat can still get in the way of how you feel in your body.

BodyTite offers a minimally invasive way to address both. It helps remove stubborn fat and tightens the skin in the same step—without the recovery time or scars of more extensive surgery. At our Tucson office, Dr. Rough uses BodyTite to refine areas like the arms, stomach, and thighs with thoughtful, customized care.

What Is BodyTite?

Reshape Without the Recovery

BodyTite is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to melt fat and firm the skin. It’s a good fit for people who want more definition but aren’t quite ready for a major surgery.

During treatment, the device delivers energy both above and below the skin, helping remove fat while encouraging the tissue to contract. This leads to smoother contours and better tone—all with very small incisions and little downtime.

What Is the BodyTite Procedure Like?

BodyTite is an outpatient procedure where most patients are comfortable with local anesthesia and light sedation. Once the area is numb, a slim probe is inserted just beneath the skin through a small incision.

At the same time, an external electrode treats the surface of the skin. As the device moves, heat is delivered in a controlled, even way—melting fat and triggering skin tightening in the process. Most sessions take one to two hours. After a short recovery period, you’re free to head home the same day.

What Conditions Does BodyTite Address?

More Than Just Fat Reduction

BodyTite is designed to target the in-between. It’s not a substitute for surgery, but it’s more effective than non-invasive treatments alone. The results are gradual, and that’s part of what makes them feel natural. It works well for:

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity
  • Areas where fat has been resistant to exercise
  • Loose skin after weight loss or pregnancy
  • Regions previously treated with liposuction that could use tightening

What Areas of the Body Can BodyTite Treat?

Helping Where Exercise Can’t

Common areas include the abdomen, waist, thighs, arms, chest, back, and under the chin. It can be used almost anywhere there’s mild sagging or excess fat that hasn’t responded to other efforts.

What Are the Benefits of BodyTite?

A Small Step That Changes Everything

This procedure offers a noticeable difference in shape and tone—without large scars or extended time off. By combining fat removal and skin tightening in one treatment, BodyTite fills a gap between non-invasive options and full surgery.

Most importantly, it gives you the chance to feel more comfortable in your body again—with fewer trade-offs.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Better contouring in hard-to-tone areas
  • A smoother, firmer look to the skin
  • Smaller incisions and less downtime
  • Results that develop gradually and last with good maintenance

This Works Best For…

Am I a Candidate for BodyTite?

BodyTite is best for people who are close to their target weight but want to fine-tune certain areas. If you have good skin quality and realistic goals, this could be a strong option. We’ll walk you through all of this in your consultation to make sure BodyTite is a safe and effective choice for you.

It may not be right for you if:

  • You’re looking for large-volume fat removal
  • You have significant skin laxity that needs surgical excision
  • You’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or healing from a recent surgery
  • You have certain medical conditions or skin disorders

A Few Days of TLC

BodyTite Recovery

Recovery is usually straightforward. There may be some soreness, bruising, or mild swelling, but most people are back to work or light activity within 3 to 5 days. Compression garments are often recommended to help with healing and support the treated area.

You’ll get personalized aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to do and when.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Gentle walking the day after to keep circulation moving
  • Avoiding workouts or strenuous activity for about 1–2 weeks
  • Minimal pain, usually manageable with over-the-counter meds
  • Gradual improvement in contour as swelling fades

Lasting Results with Less Intervention

BodyTite Results

You might start noticing changes within a few weeks, but results continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months. That’s because the skin continues to tighten and new collagen is being built during that time.

Here’s what many patients experience:

  • A leaner, more sculpted look
  • Firmer skin that doesn’t sag or bunch the way it did before
  • Better definition around the waist, arms, or lower body
  • Long-term results that hold up well with a stable weight

One treatment can deliver great results, though some patients return for additional refinements or combine BodyTite with other procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

BodyTite uses radiofrequency to melt fat and tighten skin at the same time. Traditional liposuction removes fat but doesn’t address skin laxity. BodyTite is less invasive and often has a quicker recovery.

The fat cells removed won’t come back, and the skin tightening effect can last for years. But maintaining your weight is key to preserving the results.

Usually not. The incisions are very small and often close on their own without the need for sutures. Scarring is minimal and typically well-hidden.

Yes. BodyTite is often paired with liposuction, Morpheus8, or even surgery, depending on the area and your goals.

Light movement is fine after a couple days, but you’ll want to wait at least 1–2 weeks for more intense workouts. We’ll give you specific guidance based on your recovery.
