Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty addresses the upper and lower eyelids by removing excess skin and at times fat when needed. Rejuvenation of the eyes may also include addressing the brow position in the form of a brow lift. Restoring the youthful appearance of the eye will also take away the appearance of always looking tired despite having enough rest and sleep.
Frequently, the eyes are the first to show signs of aging .
Results are immediate; may experience a variable degree of swelling postoperatively.
Pain is minimal and over the counter pain medicine is often sufficient.
Sutures are removed at 7 days.
Activity/shower/driving restriction: No restriction on daily activity. Encouraged to walk. May shower two days after surgery. No lifting greater than 10 pounds for 2 weeks. Assuming no visual impairment from swelling or pain medicine requirement may drive 1-2 days after surgery. No strenuous activity/heavy lifting for 4 weeks.
Time off work: May return to work within a week depending on job demands.
Follow-up: I will see you in the office following surgery at 1 week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months or as needed.
